Look elsewhere July 8, 2010 Writer If you must try this product, be sure to buy where you can return it. My system meets minimum requirements: 2.4 GHz, sufficient RAM and sufficient disk space, Windows XP SP3. My experience was the following: audio-video synch was virtually non existent; frame grabbing was random creating a chopped collage of digital images that could not be improved by changing the settings; the 400+ page manual addresses neither of these issues. But the big give away that something is wrong with the product, is that the manual mentions VHS-to-DVD conversion almost in passing as if this product was not really meant for this purpose. Most of the manual is devoted to the bells-and-whistles of voice overs, added music, and the like. I suspect that the VHS-to-DVD conversion was an after thought. It's also interesting to note that the A-to-D converter box advertises direct VHS-to-DVD conversion without going through your computer, yet that capability is nowhere discussed in the manual. So, be prepared to return this product if you fail to heed the warnings of most reviewers. Considering that over 70 reviewers give it an average of 3 stars (I had to give it 1 star to get this review published but, in truth, I would give it zero stars), it's a shame that such a product is allowed to continue on the market.
A headache June 6, 2010 Jennifer Z (Arizona) I knew going in that this isn't a plug-and-play product, as Pinnacle claims. What I didn't know was that Pinnacle doesn't provide any set-up support, refuses to address the tiny output image and poor quality issues, and finding help on youtube, as suggested in many reviews, will only work if you're trying to record from a video game platform. Since I wanted this to record old VHS to digital files I could import to DVD (or not, at my discretion), the hundreds of video tutorials I found on youtube were little help. In total, I wasted over 5 hours sifting through search results trying to find help.
Searching forums and tutorial sites was also unhelpful; most were written for users who are familiar with advanced audio/video set-up. Many suggested purchasing expensive additional equipment and then skipped over "basic" steps I needed, such as which cable gets plugged into which female port.
Ultimately, my local Radio Shack was able to guide me through the set-up process and tell me what cables I needed based on my particular VCR. They were familiar enough with the Dazzle capture card to guide me through after I showed them a high-resolution picture of the back of my VCR. Sadly, I have quite a few extra cables I will probably never need because I bought them on the suggestion of other reviews here or the tutorials I watched on youtube.
My advice for anyone trying to use this with a component other than a video game system is to buy just the Dazzle and then show a picture of the back of your component (VCR, DVD player, etc.) to the knowledgeable folks at Radio Shack and they'll sell you exactly what you need and nothing you don't.
This product would not be worth the time, money, and energy I have poured into it if I were trying to convert anything other than VHS format home movies to make a DVD for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. It has been a huge headache and if I ever had to purchase equipment to convert VHS to DVD again, I would find another product from different manufacturer.
Great Buy April 16, 2010 Moptop King This item is a great buy. It's worth the money. This is great to use for YouTube videos or DVD burns. Something you need to know is your computor needs to be able to burn disks. Also if you want this to make you tube videos then you will need to have an editing software. When you make the video it will give you a folder with maney items in it, the largest one should be the video/sound. I had troble editing with Windows Movie maker but others have not had a problem with it. If it dosen't work with Windows Movie Maker, VideoPad is a good alternative. All and all a great buy and a good price.

I've always wanted to record myself playing video games and now I have my chance. I like to upload the videos and share them with my friends and this does job even though the quality isn't HD it still is great.
Dazzle Recorder March 7, 2010 Matthew Hurless (Everywhere) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This would be great for old timers that haven't already purchased a DVD player and didn't throw out their old tapes. The description for the item absolutely sucked. I wanted this to record gaming but it said no where that it comes with crappy software, oh wait, It doesn't come with software. Terrible piece of plastic. Not worth your money.
